Joint Florida-Pittsburgh Venture to Transform Every Day Objects into Learning Tools

SAINT PETERSBURG, FL – N21 LLC President David Fries joins Pittsburgh city Councilman William Peduto and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy today to announce an innovative new pilot project for an outdoor learning environment in Pittsburgh’s Schenley Plaza. N21’s Outdoor Learning CloudTM (OLCTM) is the convergence of location aware mobile devices, outdoor high bandwidth communication networks and geographical information systems that enables objects within the coverage area to present multimedia learning information to users within the cloud. The cloud will allow users to learn about the history of Schenley Park, the scientific details of the natural environment, or architectural details of the surrounding neighborhood.

This ground-breaking initiative is a partnership between N21 LLC, Councilman Peduto and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. The Florida company was looking for a pilot partner and Fries’ native town of Pittsburgh was the first to take action.

“This is the type of innovation that will bring to life the objects that surround us every day and also create new opportunities for citizen involvement,” said Councilman Peduto. “We are bringing new education opportunities to the people in a free and open environment.”
