David Fries, Founder and Technology Partner

 

Through his intellectual creativity, knack for predicting technology trends and background in systems science, technology, and education, Mr. Fries brings unique insight for product conceptualization, direction and strategic planning across diverse disciplines, industries and markets to the N21 LLC team.

 

Founder of all the N21 affiliated companies and inventor of associated technologies, Mr. Fries was also an original member of the University of South Florida's Center for Ocean Technology, and the original author of USF’s MEMS Program and principal scientist on additional university projects totaling over $4.5M (ONR, NSF, NOAA, ARMY). He also was the author of the National Forensic Science and Technology Center and has over 60 publications in oceanography, analytical chemistry, medical technology, biotechnology, chemistry, microtechnology, electronics and robotics.

 

Prior to his university and entrepreneurial activities, he held an appointment at Sandia National Laboratories/Lockheed Martin. Mr. Fries has had approximately 27 Patents Issued (more pending), and 12 technologies licensed to date at the University. Mr. Fries also serves as a board member for the Tampa Bay Technology Forum and WorkNet Pinellas. He holds a BS in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh and a MS in Chemistry from the University of South Florida.
